What is sugarcane bagasse?

Bagasse is the natural fibre left after sugarcane is processed to produce sugar. These fibres are both strong & durable but are 100% plant-based therefore compostable and biodegradable and beneficial to Mother Earth. With renewable growth of between 2 to 3 times per year it is a highly sustainable material choice & only takes around 45-60 days to biodegrade

What is bamboo pulp?

Bamboo is a fast-growing, evergreen plant belonging to the botanical family of grasses. The fact that many bamboo species grow up to 3.3 feet (1 meter) per day along with several noteworthy physical properties make bamboo an extremely attractive and highly sustainable source of many end products, including bamboo pulp for the manufacture of textiles and paper

The problem with PLA

PLA cup lids and PLA lined cups that find their way into landfill sites remain intact for as long as any other form of plastic. PLA will only biodegrade under specific conditions and these conditions are, generally, only found at industrial composting sites.  The sad truth is that these products are worse than plastic as they can only be composted in an industrial compost facility
